The cognitive model according to Wells and Clark is a theoretical framework that explains how individuals develop and maintain emotional disorders such as anxiety and depression. It posits that these disorders are the result of biased information processing, where individuals selectively attend to and interpret information in a negative way. This biased processing leads to the formation of negative self-beliefs and expectations, which in turn perpetuate the emotional disorder. The model also emphasizes the role of metacognitive beliefs, or beliefs about one's own thoughts and thinking processes, in maintaining emotional distress. Overall, the cognitive model provides a comprehensive understanding of the cognitive processes underlying emotional disorders and serves as a basis for cognitive-behavioral therapy interventions. **
